Has anyone been on the inghams 3 or 4 day santa trips. I really want to go to the yllas log cabins but only seem to be able to get them with Inghams. I also want the santa experince as my son will be 4 and I thik it would be really magical. Do you visit santa in the forest/cabin. Has anyone experiemced this trip?
Any help would be appreciated.
The other option i am looking at is the simply saariskela with emagine. What do you recommend?
Thanks

I believe the 3 and 4 day trips with inghams are new for this year, no trips are included with them and their santa trip to santapark (which is what is on offer at certain times of the season) does not have good reviews.
you will also find that the short stays with them are the same cost as the week long stays but if you can go early on in dec for a week then you will find some great deals on lastminte.com
the emagine trips from what I know are all in with trips etc included, naturally they vary but you may find this a better option

Thanks for your reply.
I am so confused. I have also been looking at Esprit but heard that they don%26#39;t have very good reviews. I really like the idea of a quiet location etc but the most important thing is the santa experience for my son. It needs to be believable!

how long do you want to go for?
if it is only a few days and it%26#39;s just the two of you then it may be easier to got on an all inclusive 3 to 4 dayer, there are loads of other companies to go with other than emagine
if you do go with inghams then you don%26#39;t have to book your santa trip with them, neilsens do a search for santa and I am sure you would be able to book your santa trip with them ordo it independantly with a local company, there are several posts here about the trips

I like the look of the Ylla Log Cabins an can only seem to find them with Inghams. It would be my husband, my son (4) and myself. Do you think it would be better to go on a 3 or 4 day inclusive? Is it achievable to still make it magical when organising the trips etc. yourself? One of the main reason%26#39;s I don%26#39;t want to go on an organised %26quot;santa holiday%26quot; id because I am worried it may be tacky.
Thanks for your help.

nitnat - dyi if you can, you will find that most of us here are, and those who have been on the short break come back for the week long stays and do all the trip organising themselves etc
if you look at lastminute.com they have some great deals on at the mo going mid dec so if you can go then I would suggest you grab one
I konw what you mean about the yllas log cabins, we have booked on

Hi, this will be our third trip, we%26#39;ve been to Hetta and Levi , this year we%26#39;re of to Yllas, we%26#39;ve done the organised trips before and we were never disappointed, when we went on the search for santa, all the trails through the forest were lit by candles, we dragged our boys on sledges and when we arrived at his cabin it was just like a fairy tale. Mother christmas opened the door, santa was sat in a huge chair drinking hot chocolate, both my kids (aged 11 and 8) mouths dropped open. This was santa, he knew their names and what they wanted for christmas and he did most of the talking because both my kids were dumb struck. There was no false beard or anything that you get in a department store at home, not cheesey, just pure magic. When I asked my boy%26#39;s if they wanted to go to disney this christmas they both said that they wanted to go back to lapland instead, that say%26#39;s it all to me when a now 12 year old wants to back to see santa.

Thats Poe.Tuesday and PTF64 for your replies.
I have seen some good deals for this year but I have no holidays left to take this year from my work, (neither does my husband)so we will need to wait. I have ordered Inghams brochure for this year to have a look at the accomodation that they offer. I know, i know, i%26#39;m a bit too organised.
PTF64 which company did you go with, it sounds great? was it really expensive? If you don%26#39;t mind me asking?
We need to budget as we are going to the Port aventura resort in June for a week (the one owned by universal Studios) I know that holiday will be sooner than Lapland but I%26#39;m more excited about Lapland!! I%26#39;m sure my son will enjoy them both though.
Thanks

Went to Saariselka last year on a 4 day break with Esprit, had a wonderful time and everything was just as the brochure described. We are returning this year for a week with Inghams to have more time to explore and book our own trips when there.Having said that have been less than impressed with Inghams service so far, change of arrival airport, flight times etc.
For more detail on Saariselka and our 4 day trip click on my earthtravelller name and you will find detailed reviews that I have already done.

I%26#39;m not sure why people go on the 1-4 day trips when itn costs the same to go for a week or less to go for a week if you organise yourself. Finnishlakesidecabins have easy to use website where you can taken your pick of cabins and you can also pick your safaris with them. I found that snow fun safirs were cheaper though.
maybe its time off work issues - but why fly all that way for 3 days?

The reason being is that some of the short organised trips are fantastic and most magical in every way.
We travelled with canterbury last year and yes it cost us a fortune but was worth every penny.
We are going back to lapland this year with inghams for a weeks ski holiday and staying in yllas and once again really looking forward to it.
But i think you get what you pay for but not with all companys.
Canterbury travel is worth every penny im my account and if you cannot afford to travel with them then yes ski companys are a great substitute for organising your own holiday and travelling cheaper as they are at least half the price. But you cannot compare them.
poppy.
