First visit to Helsinki is coming up; tour participants have the choice to either to check out Suomenlinna or shopping in Helsinki%26#39;s design district, before returning via ferry to Estonia. HOping to sightsee and to buy some gifts for people back home.
Until I can return to Helsinki, what would be the most highly recommended choice and why? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Go to Suomenlinna, it is listed on the UNESCO World´s Heritage List. You can visit museums, enjoy good food in Panimo restaurant. Do not miss their own beer. Suomenlinna is a good place for a pick-nicks. You can buy what you need from the outdoor market from where you take the ferry to Suomenlinna. You can shop at Suomenlinna. Some artesans are living on the island and they sell their own products in the gift shop. Ín Helsinki everything is close to you, so you might also have time to visit the Finnish Design Forum or take a stroll along Uudenmaankatu and Fredrikinkatu.
Welcome to Helsinki!
Regards
Christina

%26quot;shopping in Helsinki%26#39;s design district%26quot; Hmm, yeah, right... does sound a bit of an overstatement.
I%26#39;d definitely recommend Suomenlinna unless the weather is really bad. Even in good weather take warm clothes with you, it%26#39;s always freezing out there.

Definitely Suomenlinna if the weather is good or so-and-so. City transport ferries are the cheapest, good view to the city.
You will still probably have enough time for shopping. Many design shops are located close to the ferry departures/arrivals.
