We are arriving on July 18th Emerald Princess cruise and not for sure where this docks but want to take the #3 Tram for the city tour. Where would I go to pick it up the Market square? Do I need to take a shuttle or taxi there? And where is there a ticket station to buy a ticket???

Your ship will dock at quay LHC of the West Harbor (no 1 on the map portofhelsinki.fi/content/…risteilykartta.jpg ).
You can take the tram 3T e.g. from the Market Place or any of the stops along its route: hel2.fi/HKL/kartat/ratikka_20_30.3.2009.pdf . Single tickets can be bought from the driver and are valid for a change within one hour.
You can take public bus 16 from Hernesaarenlaituri to Erottaja and walk from there e.g. to the Market Place for the tram 3T.
You can also hop on tram 3B from one of its stops. It is the same route as 3T but in the opposite direction. The route forms an 8 and at one point of the route the line number will change into 3T (or into 3B if you boarded tram 3T). The whole route takes about an hour.
