We are considering taking children along on husband%26#39;s 1 week business trip but wonder if there is much to do for our 2 girls (2.5 and 6 yr old)?

I would say so, here are some links. Moonin world is maybe more fun, if the children are familiar with the Moomins (used to be on TV in UK too, not sure if it%26#39;s still on there), though Naantali is a great place in the summer anyway. There are also plenty of play areas in the parks and you could take the kids for a swim in the Kupittaa outdoor pool or on the beach in Ruissalo.

Even if the kids aren%26#39;t familiar with the Moomins, Moomin World will be a great introduction. It will encourage the older one to read the books, which are superior children%26#39;s literature of the finest quality.

That%26#39;s very helpful. I think that we will take them along after all! I could not figure out when the Kupittaa park%26#39;s music festival as the link was not in English - do you know when it%26#39;s running this year?
|||
The Seikkisrock festival was in early June, I%26#39;m afraid.

You didn%26#39;t mention when you would be visiting, but I%26#39;ll throw in a few more suggestions:
- you probably noticed this if you checked the first link that Juusto sent: there is an outdoor pool in the park of Kupittaa, which is great if the weather stays like it is at the moment. There is a shallow pool that is ideal for small kids.
- another place that was a hit with our kids when they were younger was the Kuralan Kylämäki farm (village of living history). It has animals and is easily reached by public transport, in case you don%26#39;t have a car.

I am looking forward to it all! We will be there for 1 week from 14 August (we%26#39;ll be celebrating one daughter%26#39;s birthday) and hopefully the weather will hold.
Do you know if there are children%26#39;s activities that are planned through the summer hols? (I am thinking of things like museum, beach acitivities to entertain children during the school break)
Our girls like music and some kind of festival or show might be nice.
Thanks again for all your help.

In Finland, school summer hols are from the beginning of June until mid-August (yup, whole 2.5 months!) which means you are arriving just as the school year starts.

At that age, they%26#39;ll probably enjoy the playground in the attractive park on Mannerheimintie, opposite the National Museum. A plus for litluns is the remarkably tame feral rabbits that infest the park. They%26#39;re even more fun to chase than pigeons, from what I%26#39;ve seen.
|||
Oops, sorry - the bunnies are in Helsinki, not Turku. It should be a few decades before they get that far, even with global warming. I%26#39;ve got too many windows open, as usual.

As Nettle mentioned, the schools start again in mid-August, this year the school start here is Tuesday, 18 August. Unfortunately, as the school start is quite near when you arrive, I was not able to find anything very special as far as summer activities go. Both the city of Turku and various associations organise all kinds of summer activities for children, but they are mainly aimed at school-aged children, require a pre-booking (and are often very popular so get booked early in the summer) and, most importantly, will have finished by the time you arrive.
However, the weather is often still very nice in mid-August, so the abovementioned places are well worth a visit, and you will most likely run into other families with small children. Especially the Kupittaa park, which was mentioned in earlier answers, attracts parents and children, if the weather is good. The official program of the Kupittaa adventure park finishes 10 August, but the playground at least will be open. Even Moomin world, which a few years ago still closed when schools started, will be open until 23 August, so you%26#39;ll have ample time to visit. If the weather is very bad - which it very well may be - one option is the Caribia spa, although in my opinion it isn%26#39;t that suitable for very small children (the slides are quite big). Another option is an inside playground called HopLop, but that is a bit awkwardly situated, if you don%26#39;t have a car.
Where will you be staying?
