Saariselka

Last year my husband and I visited Lapland for the first time staying in Yllas. We had a fabulous time and are thinking of booking again for this year.

We are currently think of self catering log cabins in Saariselka but I do not want to spend my week in the snow cooking. Is there a good choice of restaurants around that are easily accessible on foot?

Thanks for your help, any other advice on the area also appreciated.

Saara is a lot more close knit than yllas so everything is within easy walking distance, apart from the hotels where you can eat out there are also plenty of restaurants too - far more than in Yllas from what we saw

We went for a week in feb and ate out every night there are some very nice restaurants and everything is within easy walking distance, one of our favourite%26#39;s was opposite siberia(sorry can%26#39;t for the life of me think what it was called think it may of been something like terenpesa) also the restaurant at the top of the fell was very nice for lunch and great fun sledging down afterwards.

As kelly and poe have said there are a good range of restaurants in Saari, can also recommend the restaurant at the top of the fell. You can also eat at any of the hotels, we particulalry liked the bar in the Tunturi hotel ,great service and a good range of local dishes as well as the usual burgers, pizza etc. Siberia is a gourmet restaurant, very expensive but good. At the other end of the spectrum the Scanburger bar next to the petrol station is far superior to McDonalds or Burger King and the seating area is very rustic with a lot of locals in there. The Pizza place in the Siula Building also has local toppings as well as the usual run of the mill ones and has a take away service. There are various mid priced range restaurants around and the supermarket has freshly cooked take away food and chilled/frozen ready meals if you want to save money and eat in without the hassle!
