Hi,
Off to Levi in January for 2 weeks as a treat for our 4 year old. Is 2 weeks too long?? Also, are there any trips to see santa ANYWHERE during January or do they stop after xmas? Booked through Neilsons and they have no trips to see santa at this time. Does anyone reccommend Santa Claus%26#39; village in Rovaniemi and can we get there from Levi for a day trip??
Neilsons have also said they no longer do Ski Kindergaten and Im now paniking that Jack wont see Santa or get to have a play onsome skis which is why we wanted to go!
Staying at Levi Cabins (not Levi Log Cabins) - is this too far to walk to the village??
Anyone that can put my mind at rest that I haven%26#39;t messed this trip up is much appreciated!!

Hi loobyloo
No i think 2 weeks will be good exp if its your first trip there. There are lots of things and trips to do in levi also skiing so you will have no problems filling your days up.
Inghams still do a trip to see santa so you could always try and find out if they will take you on there trip. Also you could try emailing www.levi.fi and asking them what trips they may have on offer to see santa for january time.
Santa park is ok but along way to go from levi around a 2-30 trip there and back, saying that though if you have 2 weeks in levi then i would take a trip there just to have been and seen santa park for yourself as there are other things to see there and not just santa. It is very commercial at santa park but my children both enjoyed our visits there on a day trip with inghams but i didnt the second time round.
We have stayed in the levi logs cabins before and they are around a 10 minute walk away from the levi center depending on which ones you are allocated in and they are also located lovely.
I%26#39;m sure you will have a great time;-)

i think you can still go and see him in the santa%26#39;s village that they have in levi in jan look on levi.fi or send an email to maija.siren@levi.fi she is very helpful and will able to tell you whats on offer

The Levi cabins are actually 2.5km from the resort centre. We looked at them but decided not to book them as we thought they were too far away particualrly with two young children.

Hi Loobyloo
We are also going to Levi in Jan with Neilsons and have booked the Levi Cabins. We were concerned too that it was a distance from town, but have been told that there is a bus service, how good this is we shall find out!
You say that Neilsons have no trips to see santa at this time, we are going Jan 11th and have booked a search for santa trip, through Neilsons.
I have never been to Lapland before, I am 35 years of age and am so much more excited than my girls, 10yrs %26amp; 9yrs, is this wrong :-)

Caroline,
Of course not!
Once I tell our children that we are going, I think there will be a competition as to who is most excited. I am 39.
Simon

Wrong,No you have every reason to be excited,You will love it:-)

That is soo weird! We go on the 10th of jan cos they said they only do flights once a week and they said the search for santa ends in Dec. Said that in the brochure too so i rang to double check and got the same answer. I will try again on Monday and ask if its not doable, why somone else has been able to book it!

Even if the tour operators would not be arranging trips to Rovaniemi in January, you can do it by yourself on scheduled buses. There several (4 - 5) daily bus services between Levi and Rovaniemi during the skiing season. The first one departs at 07:10 in the morning and arrives in Rovaniemi at 09:40.
Oneway tickets cost
27.20 - 30.40 EUR/adult
13.60 - 15.20 EUR/child (4 - 16 years of age)
Return tickets
49.00 - 54.80 EUR/adult
27.20 - 30.40 EUR/child
Prices differ according to the bus service (regular vs. express).
E.g. if you do the trip on a weekday (Mon-Fri), you can depart at 07:10, on weekends the first service will depart at 09:50 (arriving at 12:15).
The last service from Rovaniemi to Levi will depart Mon - Sun at 17:00 (arriving in Levi at 19:40), on Fridays during the school year there is also a service at 19:40 arriving in Levi at 22:10.
There is a local bus (8) from the centre of Rovaniemi to the Arctic Circle where the Santa Claus Village is. You can find local bus timetables at http://www.rovaniemi.fi/?Deptid=19798 .
