Saariselkä or back to levi??????

hi all, it%26#39;s getting to that time of year where we are deciding wether or not to return to lapland this christmas, we have been to yllas and to levi over the past 2 years and are wondering wether to go to saariselka or return to levi (which we loved to be honest),but if i%26#39;m being fair i%26#39;d like the excitement of going somewhere new if you know what i mean as we did everything we could in levi last year, but especially as people on here are talking more and more about saariselka we wondered if you could please give us your thoughts and tips on the place, we%26#39;ed really appreciate it a lot, thanks in advance Dave and Donna

From the scenery Saariselkä is far more beautiful than Levi, closer to Ylläs but even more beautiful because of the endless long scenery wtih round treeless fells. The center of the village is compact and small - easy to reach walking. But the range of downhill slopes are better in Ylläs and Levi. But Saariselkä is really far north -290 km north of arctic circle and true wilderness.

asked myself the say question, been five times to levi, we love it.

but we are doing new year in saariselka, from the feedback i,ve had, it will be great.

We have been to both Levi and Saariselka and we all preferred saariselka especially the kids, everybody loved the tobaggan run and it kept us all amused for hours, we also hired a snowmobile for 3 day so buzzed about on that a lot going to the icy wedding chapel and igloo village(sorry cant remember what its called)also drove up to the top of the fell in the evening the views were amazing, the village is very compact and everything is within walking distance with some nice restaurants for everybody, we will definately be going back Saariselka and thought it was very magical.

I also mush preferred saariselka over levi and yllas - it%26#39;s a lovely little town with lots to do - it has the amenities of levi and the charm of yllas

We have been to Levi 3 times, Saariselka once %26amp; Yllas once. We still prefer Levi. Saariselka was nice but for me I love the village feel of Levi. The slopes can get very repetitive as there aren%26#39;t many - however we did know this before we went. You can only ski back to the same point all te time %26amp; not venture around to different areas like you can in Levi - stopping at different cafes for a hot chocolate!

We still liked Saariselka but def prefer levi.

Going to Pyha this new year.

I Loved all the roaming reindeers there in Akaslompolo Yllas which was something i have never seen in Saariselka or Levi.Seen plenty of reindeers but never seen lots of them just wandering up the streets or around the log cabins
