Transun are ok, we went with them for christmas at the davvi hotel in karesuvanto there are some reviews on here and photos.
I must admit i wouldn%26#39;t go with them again, but thats really due to reccommendations on here for other compasnies and areas i%26#39;d like to go.
when were you looking to go and where to??

I may be wrong but was it not Transun that had the problem with the flights before christmas and many families had to miss out on their day trip to lapland. Compnay claimed that the plane could not land at the airport owing to the snow BUt yet other planes were landing.
I would not book with them.

Evening all,
We were looking at going 7th dec 09, either to JUSSANTUPA or HETAN MAJATALO which are in HETTA, due to the fact we like the lapish way of living and not commercialised area like the more popular Yllas, Levi etc.
We are hoping to have decided by saturday, but so much to consider, and just getting more advise is what we are needing.
Has anyone stayed at these hotels and are the rooms small as none of the brochures show the rooms inside?
Transun:
When I contacted them to ask about flight delays or cancellation they said %26#39;they would re-inverse the money if the landing couldn%26#39;t happen, and they didn%26#39;t need to put us in a hotel and supply b%26amp;b. If they do need to we would then lose the money as they have gave us a bed in compensation. This is with us taking out their ins.
Why Hetta?
It appeals to us, as the quite part is what we are after, the %26#39;whats included%26#39; gives good times of rides and the co-op have said to us they are highly recommended, we are just un-sure of size of twin rooms, family rooms, their will be 4 adults and 2 children (5+7). Time of flights, price is fairly good.
Thanks for your time in looking at my topic!

Went to Hetta just before Christmas with Transun but stayed in the Lomakyla Cabins. No bar there so if you want a bar you will need to go to one of the hotels. Good thing about Lomakyla was a little floodlit toboggan run which kept kids happy even after dinner. Nothing like that at Jussantupa, not sure about Majatalo.
Recommend highly and Hetta was pretty uncommercialised which was what we were after too.
Some folk staying at Jussantupa/Majatalo had very early starts for their Santa trips but we didn%26#39;t so don%26#39;t know if that was just good luck on our part.
Hetta a small place and just one street really but we found it good fun just walking around in the snow - Lomakyla maybe 10-15mins walk from Jussantupa.
Food basic but absolutely fine, just make sure you take enough clothes to be very well wrapped up as I can see how that could be a problem if people are not properly prepared. Husky trips and snowmobile safari really good fun, Santa trip well done too. We went for 3 days and think that was about the right time.
Hope this helps

Thank you all for your reply, it is good to find out peoples experience as you get a real insight to normality and not what the companies are trying to sell you.
Thanks again and enjoy your evening!!

Totally agree with %26quot;souter%26quot;. We went to Hetan Lomakyla with Transun from Cardiff on the 11th December for four days (three nights).
Whilst I have the utmost sympathy for those caught up with the cancelled flights in the Midlands at Christmas, this is one of the main reasons why I decided to %26#39;push the boat out%26#39; and go for a few days (actually I took the kids and left the husband at home!!).
Having looked at the day trip and how early we would have to get up to be at Cardiff Airport in time for the flight, and then combined with the time of the return flight....with small children it just was a disaster waiting to happen (or is it just me who has a seven year old who is still to cope with hunger and tiredness in a grown up %26quot;adult%26quot; fashion?).
As a confirmed winter sun worshipper a wintersnow break was an odd choice, but I was working on the %26#39;if I didnt do it this year - I wouldnt do it, basis%26#39; I bit the bullet, and to be candid, it was expensive but worth every penny, not necessarily for the accomodation (although I cant fault it - but yes there is no bar - but then its not that kind of break, and you spend enough time at the Jessumntupa hotel - where there is a supermarket opposite, so there is plenty of chances to %26#39;refuel%26#39;)
Also not for the quality of the food (its absolutely fine, if you can take your eyes off the fact that the kids are eating a lot of dishes with chips!)
However, even with the fussiest kid in the world, (honestly this is true!) she got fed and there were no problems.
The activites were very good - don%26#39;t be put off if you are a single mother with kids. I am not, but left my husband at home, and managed, infact relished all those things which a bloke would normally take control of i.e. mushing the huskies and driving the skidoo.
All the kids make good friends, all the %26#39;official%26#39; snow activites were excellently organised.
Plus, at the hotel we had extra activies, they are not really organised by anyone, other then a parent/team of parents, keeping an eye out. But here is a great sledge run - and at the bottom of the run a frozen pond, which this time of year doubles up as a circular sledge %26#39;spin%26#39; (as long as you have an adult!) - its basic but you%26#39;ll have to visit to see what I mean - AND...........if you do your kids will love you for it.
I managed to keep the whole holiday from my seven year old for three months after I had booked it - I don%26#39;t know how! However it was worth it as I gave her the tickets when we got to the airport carpark all wrapped up like a christmas present (with the luggage hidden in the boot)
If you can keep it a secret its worth every tear soaked moment and really sets the break off perfectly.
If you are reading this, then trust your insincts, don%26#39;t leave it too long, and no, no one can really afford it...........I am sure the memories will be worth every penny - ask me again in ten years!
Good luck and happy holiday-ing

hello. which hotel did you choose in the end? if you do need any advise or information on the different hotels I worked in Hetta last year with tranun as one of the reps.I definetly advise that you go though! it is amazing out there!
|||
Hi, We are thinking of going for a 3/4 day trip in Dec 2010, any advice would be great - thanks. We have 2 children who will be 6 and 8 when we go.

Look at Inghams or First choice - they do short breaks and are companies that do week long breaks (better valuse) - so your chances of the holidays getting cancelled are slim.
Both transun and Canterbury travel have cancelled holidays - due to lack of interest or flight problems.
