Hi Guys - I%26#39;m going to Helsinki for about 4 days at the start of November.
Having looked at the Finland map in the lonely planet I see there is a National Park that is relatively close to Helsinki - Nuuksio.
I wouldn%26#39;t mind visiting a National Park but just wondered if you would recommend this as a day trip? - it doesn%26#39;t appear to be one of the better national parks in the country and there are plenty of things to do in Helsinki.

Unless you%26#39;re really interested in the countryside, you might do better to give it a miss. It%26#39;s not at its best in early November. Like the rest of the country, really...

hi!
thanks for the response - sounds like it%26#39;s probably best to give it a miss. We%26#39;ve got a 3 day weekend break to helsinki so will prob just check the city, bars and shops out...
which part of the city is best to go out in over the weekend? - for young, cool bars similar to east london or east berlin, if there is such a place - we%26#39;ve been told Lime Bar is cool...

The city centre%26#39;s really the only place to be - plenty of choice in bars, English widely spoken. Just pick an attractive member of the gender of your choice and ask them what%26#39;s a good place.
Anywhere worth going is within strolling distance, even in November weather.

Cheers thanks John

To get an idea about nightlife in Helsinki you might want to download a Brochure called Nordic Oddity from: www.visithelsinki.fi/In_English/Visitor.iw3
It has some smaller/ independent clubs listed. Go to Kallio district to find bohemian atmosphere. Clubs called Kuudeslinja and bars called Pulmu, Siltanen, Baari and so on.
