This will be our 4th Year in Lapland this December. 1st trip for 3 nights, 2nd trip for 7 nights, 3rd trip for 7 nights. This time we are going for 2 weeks, and we have NEVER seen the Northern lights once :-(
If we do not see them this year, we will scream!!

There is always a chance but it cannot be guaranteed. First of all, the sky has to be clear and the sun spot activity high... Just search through the forums, there have been several threads about this with many links to websites forecasting the northern lights/Aurora Borealis.

Solar activity has been a record low for some time now and there is no sign of a return to normal solar %26#39;acne%26#39;. On the other hand, you certainly have a CHANCE of seeing the aurora at that time of year - it%26#39;s just that nobody can forecast exactly what the odds are. Good luck!

Last weekend was superb northern lights, I don%26#39;t know if you can see this link spaceweather.com/aurora/images2009/24oct09/N… but that%26#39;s from Tromsö and in Inari also were some really nice ones!
