Moi!
I%26#39;ll be visiting Helsinki just before Christmas and as we are arriving rather late on Friday 18th (scheduled to land in Vantaa at 22:35), I was wondering what the best option was for a meal that evening? We%26#39;re staying in Radisson Plaza on Mikonkatu so nearby would probably be a good idea - or even in the hotel but I%26#39;m not sure whether they%26#39;d still be serving food at that hour. I%26#39;m not really into McDonalds or fast food so I%26#39;m hoping to avoid unhealthy meals at that hour...
Alternatively, we could have a quick lunch somewhere nice the next day to make the most of our visit (I found Juuri on the web - are they good?) but we%26#39;d have to be quite quick as we%26#39;re leaving Helsinki at 16:35 from Vantaa. Not very much time I know...
All advice is welcome :)

I%26#39;m afraid Helsinki is rather a desert for late-night dining. Even McDonald%26#39;s closes at 11. I hope you enjoy the meal on your plane!
On the bright side, lunch over here is early by Brit standards. You won%26#39;t have any trouble getting any kind of food you want and still getting on the airport bus by 1 o%26#39;clock or so. What kind of food DO you want?

Just ignore the post above, mcDonald%26#39;s is open until 5.
Couple of restaurants open late within a easy stroll from your hotel are:
www.marcante.fi/kipina/index_english.html

However i would recommend Restaurant Manala, about 1km walk away from your hotel. Good food at affordable prices.

And of course there are plenty of pizza and kebab joints too.

I stand corrected. McD%26#39;s in Kamppi (Fredrikinkatu 46) and the ground floor of the Sokos department store (that will probably be the easiest to find) are indeed open all night. It was the Kluuvi franchise I found dark and locked up at 10.30 last Saturday.

Another latenight kitchen in the Center and not far from your Hotel is called Kolme Kruunua (the Three Crowns). It is a traditional Helsinki Restaurant, they have not changed their interior much since their opening back in 1952. The kitchen is opened untill 11pm and serves such delicacys as Reindeer meat with mashed potatos. See their webpage at: www.kolmekruunua.fi/en/index.php?sivu=home. However it can be too tight for your schedule.
Manala is a safer option, the kitchen is opened until 3.30am. See: www.botta.fi/RESTAURANTS.16.0.html?%26L=1

Hei again!
Thank you very much for your recommendations - I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll manage with the suggestions you%26#39;ve provided! I think the Kolme Kruunua would be pushing it - especially since we%26#39;re only landing at about 10.30! I think the best option for us is to grab something quick in the evening (if we really do need to eat at that hour :p) and then have a nice chilled lunch on Saturday somewhere in the centre of Helsinki!
Once again, thanks to everyone for their hospitality!
Txx
