advice on Saariselka Oct 09

Hoping someone can offer assistance. My husband and I are currently in Norway with my husbands work, in Kirkenes. We are heading Saariselka 31st Oct and only staying two nights.

Looking at the web site, Holiday Club looks to be pretty good. We would like to %26quot;experience%26quot; the snow, well me anyway. My husband is a confident skiier and I would need lessons.

We are mid 30%26#39;s and keen to stay somewhere fun, quite social and enjoy skiing during the day. Dog sledding would be great if they offer that this time of year.

Anyways ... any advice would be fabulous.

Regards

Kerrie

Hi

Not sure if there would be enough snow for all the snow sports, at the end of October. Have you tried www.saariselka.fi, and www.lapland-forum.com

both these sites have lots of information.

On the webcam there is snow so it maybe OK - good luck with you research.

Yes I%26#39;ve checked out those sites and they look pretty good. Just some personal experience with hotels is what I was after.

Its worth a trip out there and hopefully there will be lots to do. Two days not really long enough, but that is all we have at present.

We will be back again just after christmas so I%26#39;m sure there will be more to do then.

Thanks

Kerrie :)

the holiday club is in a great location and it%26#39;s a good hotel, it will suit your needs I am sure, it also has a pool so you can use that if the skiing was not all that fab

it is a delightful place and the walks around the area are stunning, I am sure that there will be enough for you to do on your short trip, and like you say, you are going back later on to do the other snowy stuff should there not be enough snow about at the end of october

Thanks for your advice. Yes I think the Holiday Club will be the way to go.

Downhill skiing slopes will not be open next week, but 25 km of cross country trails are open. Husky safaris also possible. But best to book safaris %26amp; possible ski lessons in advance if you stay only 2 days. It%26#39;s no high season so not all activities are available without bookings. Check http://www.topsafaris.fi
