Ok, so I thought I%26#39;d chosen Levi, then I changed my mind to Yllas because of the reviews about the building work but now I%26#39;m worried Yllas will be too quiet!
My husband and I want to get away over Christmas - something nice and romantic. Which accommodation to say in - hotel or cabin?
We are both intermediate skiiers - will we get bored?

Cabin - Cabin Cabin.
If you want romantic and quiet then Yllas, nothing going on much in the evening a few places to eat and things spread out more - you have to get a bus to the slopes not walking distance.
Levi is my fave - you can still have peace, we had some nice long walks but more things to do in the evening, sledging on front slopes, more places to eat and some bars, you can walk to the front slopes.
A lot of people are goint to Sarriselska this year - have ou thought about there - ski-ing is limited but its supposed to be very pretty. 3 hr transfer from the airport though.

Do you know that there are actually two resorts by the Ylläs fell, Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi? There is a big hotel at Ylläsjärvi that is by the ski lift.
However the way to spend a romantic holiday (or any holiday in Lapland actually) is the cabin, period. Äkäslompolo is the most relaxed place I would say but Levi has the kind of nightlife where u can go from one place to another.
Skiing is good at all places, although I prefer Ylläs. Big, easily navigated area on both sides of the fell. Hope this helps a little.

...eeer no competition especally Christmas! gotta be a cabin....no questions
You can then get to the supermarket and buy your own food ..also most have private saunas!
I find there is so much more freedom with having an cabin they really are the ultimate ,and I know Shell has stayed in several as have I!
I love both Levi and yllas ..
I would agrre with shell that Yllas is more spread and has limited evening nightlife...but even Levi is nothing compared to other European resorts!!
Wherever you are in Levi you can join in the nightlife or leave it!
Skiing for us I would say probably good skiiers is perfect- you will find there is plenty to keep you going for a week, but don%26#39;t forget to make time for some real Lapland excursions huski sledging, snow mobiles reindeers etc....

Personally i would choose a log cabin over a hotel.
There are more bars and night life in Levi than there is in Yllas but there are a few bars and resturants around in Yllas or akaslompolo which are lovely.
I love the more traditonal feel of the resort of akaslompolo which i now think Levi lacks,We also much preferred the skiing in Yllas.
Both resorts are great and im sure which ever you choose you will have a great holiday in Lapland.

If you wish you can get a ski pass that covers both Yllas and Levi...it is not too many more euros.

It%26#39;s been a couple of years since we went to Levi so not sure about the building work there at the moment but we liked it very much. Last year we stayed in Yllas right on the slopes at the Hotel Saaga and very nice it was too.. I%26#39;d say that Yllas is better suited to the intermediate skier but as others have said the nightlife is virtually nil.. though we didn%26#39;t think there was that much going on in Levi either, it%26#39;s nothing like the Austrian resorts that we%26#39;ve been to. However you pay your money and you takes your choice, the snow is to die for and you wont get better anywhere than Lapland but you do have to sacrifice the night life a bit!
We%26#39;ve never stayed in a cabin because as a couple we%26#39;ve always found it cheaper to stay in a hotel but the cabins do look lovely and if we could afford it I think the cabins would be a better bet.
We%26#39;ve booked Levi again this year just to see if it was as good as we remembered!
