Hi
I was wondering/hoping that someone might be able to offer me some advise.
My husband and I are going on a 7 day break to Levi departing on 27th dec and returning 3rd Jan.
I was hoping some of you might be able to tell me the must do activities whilst we are there. We are going skiing, but also don%26#39;t want to miss out on anything!!!
Also we are staying in a chalet, (Levi chalets, Inghams brochure) and wondered if there will be any celebrations etc on New Years Eve that we could pre-book or make sure we don%26#39;t miss out on!
Any help and advise would be appreciated as this is our first time in Lapland and we want to make the most of our time there!

You need to book somewhere to eat now for New Years eve - look on Levi.fi web page at the resteraunts,
Snowmobiling is a must and huskies, sledging, reindeers maybe even try the Icelandic pony treck - my daughter loved it although my bottom didnt :-).
New Years eve is a tad dangerous -A few drunken people letting off fireworks on the front slopes without a care for anyone elses saftey, if i was you i would stand by the road as thats the safest location. Last year we bought wish lanterns to take and set them off on christmas eve and new years eve - a lot safer than the fireworks and the kids loved them.
take a look at www.laplandforum.com lots of pics on there of the christmas/new year celebrations/

Thanks for your reply.
I%26#39;ve looked at the Lapland forum and it%26#39;s been really helpful. Thnak you.
I was wondering if anyone can rec somewhere mid range for a meal on new years eve , somewhere where we will be able to view the fireworks from.
Thnaks for the help so far.

Cantina is opposite the front slopes but on ground level -They do steaks burgers etc, nice food huge portions. To get a good look at the firworks you will need first floor,
I would chance it outside but just be wary and keep your distance from the actual slopes. It is a good atmosphere :-)

It can be a little dangerous (especially if you have children) But we enjoyed it a lot !! Best firework display I have seen in a while...The Levi cabins, I believe, are situated at the golf area which means you are away from the front-main- slopes where the firework display is! so you will have to get the ski bus around the fell and possibly a taxi back?
I have been to Lapland so many times as I just love it!
I would certainly consider skiing,huskis and snowmobiles...Fantastic experiences.
I shall also be staying in these cabins from the 26th -looks like I may see you!

If you are staying in the levi chalets then these are situated more towards the center and are only around a five minutes walk away from the front piste.

Kimi - have i missed something -
When did you book to go back???????
|||
Sorry got mixed up betwen posts Levi chalets are in town near to front slopes.
Was thinking of levi Cabins which are situated at the golf course!
Sorry for any confusion! x

It is confusing kimij,
Neilson ski%26#39;s and first choice%26#39;s levi log cabins are near to the golf course and crystal ski used to have levi chalets that were situated there aswell.
All of the inghams accomodation is pretty centrall to the town.

looks like its going to be a busy time we are also going travling from manchester on the 27th but staying at the crazy reindeer,
i think the lantens is a great idea but i was surprised how big they were when they came in the flat box but will take them , also got the kids a half dozen glow sticks something different,
i am going to try santas hideaway home instead of santas village i have heard its better value and will be open over the new year,
also ingrams husky and reindeer trips are better value over 1st chioce, and ingrams will take your booking even thou you did not travel with them.
We are all looking forward to levi and the news that kids land is safe in the meantime is also good,
my main concern how much money to bring for the 4r of us even thou we are full board in the crazy r/deer. well i hope you have a great time and also that the snow will be plenty can you make snowmen or is the snow too dry will have to look into this as well
|||
Its very hard to make a snowman - if you can find a big chunk of it - start with that and pack the new snow ontop -
you cant roll it like you can here - we got one of those snowball making machines - and sorry to say - it was fantastic :-)
