Hi...Like you I am looking at a trip to Lapland with First Choice but I can only see 7 night trips available. When are you going? as I am looking at New Year, perhaps 4 night trips are available prior to Xmas etc.....Also look at Cosmos, they have a good selection also. I have been to Lapland before with e-magine, a well organised company but expensive. I have been looking at reviews and First Choice look ok, they certainly provide snow/winter clothing and some short trips on huskies snowmobiling etc but get a hold of the First Choice Lapland brochure as First Choice on the internet does not give too much information, the brochure goes into it in better detail. I only found this out after phoning a local First Choice agent. Godd luck

get in touch if you want some advice re sarraselka as I have been there...Mike

Hi,Thanks for the reply. We are looking to go on 9th Dec for four nights. It does seem like the three and four night breaks are only before xmas.I will pop into our local first choice and get a book.

HI ...Yes I have been on a 3 night and a 5 night trip both with First Choice.

We firstly went to Yllas and stayed in the yllas Akas cabins and secondly stayed at the Lavi star apartments.

Basically a 4 day trip will include your snow suit etc you will probably get a short trip on a skimobile, huski and reindeer and some skedging etc

These %26#39;tasters%26#39; we found were a quick once around a small area. for huskis and deer about 5 minutes! %26#39;Tho we did all enjoy this!

I guess you also get a Gala evening...and this can be a little hit and miss..we had a bad experience but I have to say it depends what you expect and what age(if any) your children are..As a company First Choice tend to be the cheapest and stall are pretty good value for money..

If you can stay longer I would urge you to consider a week for the same money (ish..)

As I write this it all sounds very poor...In fact I cannot stress how much we loved Lapland and since those short trips have continued to return year after year!

Lapland is Fantastic!

I would love to give you more specific advice..but not sure exactly what you need to know ..just let us know ..

There are some deals for Lapland...pre Christmas ..available on lastminute.com

Hi Kimij,Thanks for your reply. This will be our first time going so any and all advice would be very welcome.Another thing we were worried about is where would the best place be for snow,we don%26#39;t want to get there and have no snow lol.We are thinking of going around 9th Dec.We were also wondering if it is cheaper to book the excursions via first chioce before we leave.I see you are from Norwich like me lol.

Forgot to say the kids are 15,13,11 and 3.Going for the three year old mostly but I am sure the others will enjoy it!

I think you will find the older ones will have more fun!!

For snow-especially around the early part of December I would probably opt for Yllas or Levi..maybe Saariselka (if that is available)?

There have been one or two years when snow has been just an inch or two in Roveneimi so thats why I would choose the more northern resorts.

There will be conflicting advice on resorts but I would go to Yllas if you want a more quiet and spread out village feel or Levi if you want a little more nightlife .. although this hardly compares to nightlife as we know it!! There will be plenty of options for excursions when you arrive at either resort!

I have also sent you a pm...

Pm not working!

I woas going to mention to get advice from

www.laplandforum.com

I used to always go the first/second week in december other than last year and the snow has been great. It has actually been better early dec than it has been towards the end of the month of december.

As for resorts each are very different but i think Yllas has more of a traditional village feel to the resort than levi does.

Saariselka is fab to but first choice do not do short breaks there.

Try and choose a more northern resort though as the weather/snowfall will be better.

Its worth taking a look at the inghams website and lastminute.com as there will be a few good deals coming up on there for some of there shorter lapland trips and weeks stays.
