Hi I%26#39;m ready to book Search for santa in OLOS 4 days Canterbury Tales 2 adults 2 kids (£5300) and can%26#39;t decide on a cabin or bungalow.Has anyone been? Which is located nearest the facilities? Don%26#39;t really want to have to walk for miles every time we want to do anything.
Any tips - do l need to bring my own snow gear or is provided kit ok(a bit fussy re hygiene!!)
Any advise greatly appreciated as the cost of trip would take us on a super holiday but i really want to do this for the kids before its toooo late!

sorry no advice re the accommodation however, that%26#39;s a hell of a lot of money when you could have a week in an amazing cabin for that price with all the extras and still have plenty of change
|||
Thanks for reply - the problem is l live in northern ireland and there is no companies for 4 days (first choice did it last year but with recession have stopped it this year).
I know we%26#39;re being ripped off with canterbury tales but no one else offers this trip .I read reviews on ski holidays but can%26#39;t seem to find anything that includes the %26quot;Santa Theme%26quot;.

Hi Gracie32, I have to agree with poe, that%26#39;s an awful lot of money for 4 days, I%26#39;m truely gobsmacked. I assume that this is for christmas week ?
Dont know anything about Olas as we%26#39;ve only been to Ruka twice. Would you not look at the likes of Inghams, you could go for a week with them and have all the trips organised (huskey dogs, Reindeers and Santa etc) and still have a chunk of money left over ? If you didnt like the trips organised by Inghams you can always book independantly with the local companies before you go.

you can go with inghams for a week from Ireland and they do all the santa activities too that you can book with them
the other option is to go and do it independently, there are some amazing cabins you can get - I will post up some links when I get home so you can see what you can get for your money
the other option is that there is another company that looked great - I think it%26#39;s called lapland activies - have a search here for it - they had some really lovely santa breaks which they do in sweden - less commercial and all that but lovely and despite being expensive they were not as expensive as canterbury
please hold off before you book and give us a chance to find other options for you and then once you have seen them all then you can make a decission
|||
Thanks for all the replies - again my problem is where l live -and ps were not staying christmas week -l assume its even more expensive then!
To fly from NI there is only the option of 2 nights-not long enough -Canterbury Tales are flying from Dublin--Looks like the economic climate has hit hard --the trips available last year just aren%26#39;t there this year including some of the companies!!
|||
have a look here
activitiesabroad.com/Booking/…
they have loads of lovely santa holidays, I know they go from heathrow but getting a flight there would be easy
anyhow, leave it with us for a bit longer to see what we can find for you and as for the time you are going, it will be much cheaper out of christmas week
have you contacted inghams about going from ireland?
|||
call inghams in ireland on 01 661 1377 and see what they have to say as regards to dublin departures
|||
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer.You have actually been more help than the travel agent!!
Will post in a few days to let you know what l come up with
|||
I agree with all the above I would surely go for more time in Lapland!
The first time we went was for 3 nights..certainly NOT long enough!
People do not realise that there are loads of things to do in Lapland and as we really don%26#39;t get that much snow you really should make the best of it!
Check out other prices before booking -also if you are going OUT of the school holidays prices WILL be slashed at this time!
BTW Christmas week is usually cheaper than New Year week !

Good luck with your search, unfortunatly Inghams Ireland do not fly to Finland so thats not an option. We had to go via Gatwick for the last 2 years. We had looked into doing it independantly this year, but sadly Ryanair have pulled out of the Dublin to Tampere route from the end of October, so the only current option out of Dublin is to fly to Helsinki with either Aerlingus or SAS and onwards then to your chosen destination in Finland.
