My son is attending Tampere University and will be travelling with his dad (it%26#39;s a male bonding thing) to Helsinki for a few days then to Tampere. He will be living in residence located at Lapinkaari 1, 33180 Tampere and I would like to book a hotel close to this address but also close enough to the city centre. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Tampere%26#39;s not that big a city and Lapinkaari is no more than a stiff walk from the centre. You could well be in the downtown area at any hotel that meets your requirements.

Another option would be Sokos Hotel Tammer, it%26#39;s in the center, but on that side of the city.

Public transport is excellent in Finland if you%26#39;ve lost your ability to walk farther than the kerb.

For many North Americans walking more than 1 block is out of the question, even though their blocks are larger.
