Till what time in the evening do you recommend safely (avoiding drunks and other %26quot;problematic%26quot; people) using public transport? After what time am I better off using a taxi?
Similar question for morning times.

The last buses going to shabby residential areas at night may be a little too exciting at weekends, but generally drunks are not a huge problem, and in any case you%26#39;re not likely to be heading that way. On commuter trains, you can always spot the troublesome drunks - they%26#39;re the ones with plenty of free seats around them. But again, you%26#39;re unlikely to be going in the same direction as these. The vast majority of visitors stay in the center rather than out in the suburbs.
Finland%26#39;s public transport has nothing like the problems of New York%26#39;s subway system, for instance.

I%26#39;d add to John%26#39;s message that the drunken people getting to their homes on late weekend busses and trains in Helsinki area are usually more of a irritating than troublesome (or dangerous) sort. And most Finns are pretty silent even when they are drunk. ;)
Anyway, usually these people don%26#39;t head back home before midnight, usually much later. Most of them go home between 1:30-4am, I would say. Before that, you may see in public transport a bit tipsy people getting to restaurants, not home.
