Hi there,
We are flying into Tampere next week and I%26#39;m finding it very hard to get solid information about what its going to cost us (time and money) to get to Bjarno.
I%26#39;ve been told that for two of us on trains and busses it could cost us €200!! Car rental is €340 which is a bit of a waste because we will be in Estonia for 4 of the 7 days!
We are trying to do the trip on a budget but at the same time we dont want to waste the better part of two days (one in each direction) waiting on busses and trains.
ANY advice about this journey would be much appreciated.
Neil

Hi!
What/Where is Bjarno?? Never heard so hard to help..

Apologies...I think I was given a typo%26#39;d destination. I know that it is not very far from Salo.
Thanks,
N

There%26#39;s nothing close to Salo which resembles that. You really should get the right name for the place first.

Sorry, just thought of something. You must mean Perniö (Bjärnå in Swedish). The truth is that the train from Tampere to Salo costs one way at least 30 € for one person. The bus from Salo to Perniö costs about 5 € for the same, so your trip for two back and forth would cost about 140 €. It%26#39;s expensive, sure, but that%26#39;s what it is. You can search information from http://www.vr.fi/eng/ for trains from Tampere to Salo and then www.matkahuolto.info/lippu/en/expressbus/ for the bus from Salo to Perniö (select Salo bus station for departure and Perniön linja-autoasema for arrival).

Hi there, Thanks for the information. I think you are right because the lady that gave me the information is Swedish. I%26#39;ve been trying all day to get hold of her but no joy.
Looks like the car is the best option then.
Cheers,
N

Congratulations on your detective work, Tummi! I would never have guessed that.

Often there%26#39;s no or very little surcharge for one way rentals. Check the rental companies if you can drop off the car in Helsinki for the time you will spend in Estonia.
