Buying a Nokia cell phone in Nokialand :)

Can you buy 1 without a service contract? The ones I have here are all tied to 1 provider so dont accept SIM cards from anywhere else. Wondering if I can get that freedom buying 1 in Helsinki.

Yes. You can buy the 3G (UMTS) phones either with or without a service contract, other (2G) phones only without the contract.

As a non-resident of the EU, can reclaim the value-added tax and it%26#39;s worth doing on pricier items.

There%26#39;s a big Nokia store on Aleksanterinkatu, right where most visitors spend most of their time. They have a good range and the staff are well informed about the products, which is not always true when you shop for cellphones elsewhere.

Stockmann%26#39;s dpt store is also a good place to shop a phone.

Most of the phones are sold without a contract. Make sure you get a triband model to use it back home, too.

Is it ok that I will buy nokia high end phone (5800) from Helsinki and can use it in elsewhere in the world (like INDIA) ?

Is there any issues in this ?

Thanks,

Rahul
