Till how late can I safely wander around the Central train station without getting a %26quot;lonely%26quot; feeling?

You can wander around there safely as late as you want to, as long as you just %26quot;mind your own business%26quot;. There is a police presence there most of the time and private security guards at all times.

mamppu is correct. I have no safety concerns about being in the station area well after midnight.

You should however avoid going to %26quot;Kaisaniemen puisto%26quot; or Kaisaniemi Park, which is located north-east from the railway station, during nighttime. That area has the most crime in downtown Helsinki. Otherwise Helsinki is quite a safe place even during the night.

I also think that mamppu is correct. Yes, you should avoid Kaisaniemi park latenight if it seems empty. If there are many %26quot;safe looking%26quot; people around, you should be Ok there, too. Otherwise the station area is safe even during nightime. It used to be unsafe 15 years or something ago. Just one rule: don%26#39;t try to be wise guy with anyone lining for a taxi or for a snack outside the grill-kiosk. Hungry and drunk Finn can be a dangerous animal.

I suggest not to %26#39;wander around%26#39; at the railway station after dark, nor to enter the subterrain area Asematunneli.

Unlike many European cities where the %26quot;area around the train station%26quot; is considered %26quot;bad%26quot;, the area around the train station is fine, even late at night and in the wee hours of the morning.
I%26#39;ve been to Finland nine times staying for up to five weeks at a time, and usually stay at the Hotel Vaakuna right next to the train station. I always stay out late and end up drunk, stumpling around the train station area looking for the entrance to the 10th Floor nightclub to end the evening, and I%26#39;ve never had or seen any problems.
